And the winner is...









Congratulations to Alt-j (∆) who won this year's prestigious Mercury Prize for their debut album An Awesome Wave.

With their nerdy look and innovative sound this band held off competition from Django Django, Richard Hawley, Ben Howard, The Maccabees, Plan B and other amazing artists to the £20,000 prize money and the promise of automatic increased album sales as people flock to listen to their prize winning piece.

I only have started listening to their album about two days ago after my girlfriend played them in the pub but their album is definitely a different sound to many artists these days but you get a sense of the XX in their music with its electronic feel and complete difference to much music today.
